Moments

In solidarity with the many men and women who are raped by their intimate partners: may you find the strength to walk away – it is never too soon, or too late

A moment’s decision
For an eternity
Of not being heard.
The hours of dread
Before weeks in a daze.
A year of detaching,
And another for endings
And tears of rage
As time flew by
While I stood still.

“Cast me gently into morning, For the night has been unkind. Take me to a place so holy that I can wash this from my mind – the memory of choosing not to fight”
(From Answer, by Sarah McLachlan)
