In Love

An ode to Cupid, son of Mercury, the messenger of the gods, and the goddess of love, Venus

The earth’s not round but shaped a heart

And in the centre trembles Cupid’s dart

The sky’s not blue but tinted red

And cradles the world in a passionate bed

The ground’s not hard but soft as snow

And hugging me tight wherever I go

My heart’s not cold but burns for two

And all because I’m in love with you
